Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is tasked with the responsibility of promoting the Foundation’s vision and managing its day to day affairs.


Samuel Asare-Konadu (Patron)

Samuel is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Builder with about twenty years of post graduate Quantity Surveying experience. Samuel’s professional carrier commenced at G. A. Takyi and Partners as a graduate Quantity Surveyor 1994.


The next six years at G. A. Takyi and Partners afforded him the opportunity to grow his carrier to the position of a Senior Surveyor while working on various projects of varying size and complexities and qualified as a Chartered Builder in 1999.


In his quest to become a Contractor’s Quantity Surveyor, Samuel joined the Taylor Woodrow Construction Company Limited, a multinational construction company in 1999 as a senior Quantity Surveyor. In 2002 Samuel set up A-Kon Consults Limited.


In 2006, Samuel qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, United Kingdom and has since been working and represents Davis Langdon Plc in Ghana. Samuel is also a member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors.


Mary Twum-Barima (Board Chair)

Mary has worked for several years as an Administrator and Human Resource Professional in diverse sectors in Ghana and the United Kingdom.


Her foray in Ghana commenced in 1992 with the Millicom International Group which set up the first mobile telephony network (Mobitel). Having been transferred from Millicom Inc.’s UK branch, she played a vital role in the setup and roll out of the Company operations until the network was commissioned.


She subsequently served as Personnel/Administration Manager before joining Metropolitan Insurance as Head of Administration in 1997. Since 2006 she has worked at the University of Ghana administering donor funded projects for research and capacity building.


In lead roles Mary inspires a spirited team work approach to achieving results while providing vital support to the Institutions she has been privileged to work for.

She brings to the Foundation her passion for practical education and a functional work ethic.


Gwendolene Asare-Konadu (Board Secretary)

Gwendolene has had several years of experience with national and multinational organizations in Ghana. She worked as an Accounts Supervisor at IKAM Limited from 1996-1998. She later joined Western Telesystems Limited – the second biggest national telecommunication operator in Ghana (currently Airtel) in 1998.


She was the Administrative Assistant for the Accounts Department from 1999 to 2004. She was later promoted to the position of Management Accountant in Western Telesystems Ghana Limited between 2004 and 2005.

Gwendolene later joined the Ghana Agro Food Company Limited as the Management Accountant from 2005-2008. Gwendolene also worked as the Deputy Financial Controller of Atlantic International Holding Company Limited.


She is also currently the Company Secretary of A-Kon Consults Limited.


Tammy Ofori (Board Member)

Tammy began her career with UNUM Life Insurance Company working in life claims and medical underwiting. With her experience, she accepted promotional opportunities with other life insurance companies in New England, USA. She also has a vast experience in professional liability insurance.


Tammy has a wealth of experience administering personal investments for high net worth clients and managing trust funds. During her tenure at Wilmington Trust, LLC, she worked directly with beneficiaries of trust funds and affluent retirees. During those years, she completed a series of personal financial trust programs through Cannon Financial Institute.


Prior to relocating to Ghana, she accepted an administrative appointment at The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (2003-2006) and also served as a registered Delaware State Notary Public for many years.
